My specialist Children and Babies clinic is held on Saturday mornings at The Terrace in Taunton. I believe that complementary therapy should be accessible to all and so I am offering treatments for Babies and Children under 12 for just £10.
The Bowen Technique is so safe, gentle and non invasive that babies and children love it. It addresses the head and jaw, influencing nerves that can be affected during birth which upset the digestive and respiritory system, and leave them feeling generally unsettled. It also works with the whole body, enabling optimum alignment and balance.
For older children, keeping a balanced body while growing is, to me, essential. Small tensions can develop into chronic problems in adulthood. The theory here is don't wait until it's too bad to fix, keep regularly maintained to prevent that!
Here are some stories you might like to read:
'A friend suggested finding out if Kate could do anything to help my 8 month old baby whose chest was becoming more and more wheezy as the weeks went by. I was sceptical but willing to give anything a try as the doctors had simply diagnosed her as being a 'happy wheezer' and had prescribed an atrovent inhaler which we had been using when needed for several months. I was absolutely amazed when her wheeziness disappeared completely after only two treatments! Hannah is now 15 months old and we have not used the inhaler since. Kate has also treated my 4 year old son for 'glue ear'. She has a lovely gentle manner with both children and makes them feel comfortable and relaxed with her. Amazingly she manages to persuade my 4 year old to lie still for a couple of minutes at a time which is an achievement in itself! I really cannot recommend both Kate and the Bowen Technique enough! Having also had Bowen treatment from Kate for back pain after my pregnancy which also took only a couple of treatments to resolve, I can thoroughly recommend it as a gentle and relaxing technique that really works.'

My own daughter was diagnosed with a scoliosis (spinal curvature) at eight years old. The consultant recommended x-rays every six months while she grew, and if it got any worse they would try to correct it with back braces or rods if necessary. I've never been one to just accept a diagnosis and my instinct was not to just wait for it to get worse. I had Jessica treated with the Bowen Technique, and after four sessions I took her back for another x-ray to check progress. The spine was completely straight. The therapist noted that the muscles on the right hand side of the spine were particuarily rigid, potentially pulling the spine out of alignment. Over the four sessions, this muscular imbalance resolved and allowed the spine to straighten. I appreciate that this may not be the reason for all scoliosis, but Bowen certainly saved Jess from some extreme treatment. (Jess is now 15 and still fine).
